About
ARTIST STATEMENT
My paintings focus on people engaged in daily life, often of children at play, usually within city scapes, but sometimes in natural settings. The figures in my paintings are based on gesture drawings that hint at the figures’ postures and intentions. I use each color throughout my paintings to create a sense of lively rhythm and motion. I generally use pastel colors, which are not relevant to the subject matter. In my paintings, I do not portray a sense of value or tone, nor do I attempt to imply a three dimensionality. My goal is to reflect the joy in life.
